Wesclin Community Unit School District #3 Board of Education met Feb. 22.

I. Regular Meeting
A. Roll Call
The Board of Education of Wesclin Community School District # 3, Clinton and St. Clair Counties, Illinois, met in a regular session on Tuesday, the 22nd day of February 2022, at the hour of 6:03 p.m., at the Wesclin High School in said district.

B. Approval of Minutes
Minutes of the previous regular meeting and of the executive session of January 18, 2022 and the Special Meetings of January 24, 2022, and February 6, 2022 were approved on a motion by Jeff Stroot seconded by Paul Josias.

C. District Finances
Motion made by Tina Litteken seconded by Connie Elmore to approve The Treasurer's Report and payment of payroll in the amount of $799,672.44 and bills in the amount of $534,269.20.

D. Agenda modification

Superintendent Report
Calendar
We will be starting school on Monday, August 15, 2022 with a teacher institute and students beginning with a half day on Tuesday, August 16. The last day without any snow days is Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Learning Plan Update
Until we receive guidance, we are going to continue to pause the requirements for masking and close contact quarantines/test to stay.
Dual Credit Report
Included is the Community College dual credit report for our cooperative, Kaskaskia College.
Agendas

- We have started using our two new buses. We are looking to either scrap or advertise our old buses.
WHS – It’s FFA week this week. FFA won a $5,000 grant to put towards hydroponics in the greenhouse. Gianna Bilbruck advanced out of the regional 3-point competition at Central last Friday night. She will shoot again this Thursday night at the Nashville Sectional at 5:30 p.m. If she advances from there, she will shoot at the state final competition next week Thursday night in Bloomington.
Boys basketball regionals are being held here this week.
WMS – Bowling team is having a successful year as well as our scholar bowl team. Teachers are starting to plan for end of year activities.
NB – Lakshmi Gonzalez is the Student of the Month. The kids celebrated “February 22, 2022” today.
Special Services – Annual reviews will start in two weeks and will continue through the end of the year.

III. Celebration of Success
Evan Willhite won the middle school spelling bee. He will compete in the Scripps Spelling Bee sponsored by the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Maren Ringler placed 2nd. Both Maren and Evan will compete in the Clinton County spelling bee in the spring.
Thanks to Nurse Jessica and Nurse Mackenzi for organizing Miles of Smiles. This is a free dental clinic for our students.
Thank you to the Trenton Elementary PTG for reconvening after over two years to recharge and plan some new activities for the students and their families. Thanks to the new office team for the time and energy that they give toward the betterment of the school: Kim Shaddrick, Jennifer Hogan, Amber Harriss, and Denelle Whitlach.

A. Health Life Safety Amendment – Trenton Elementary, Wesclin High School and New Baden Elementary
Motion by Jeff Stroot seconded by Connie Elmore to approve the Health Life Safety Amendments for Trenton Elementary

B. 2021-2022 Learning Plan
Motion by Paul Josias seconded by Jeff Stroot to pause the mandates until further notice.

C. Charter Spectrum Contract
Motion by Tina Litteken seconded by Connie Elmore to continue the 3 year contract and double the speeds in all buildings and upgrade the firewall.

D. Consent Agenda
