The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Monday, June 27, 2022. Board members included Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc), Jim Beasley (Centralia), Jeff Brown (Greenville), Louis Kalert (Centralia), Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle), and Alyssa Lurkins (Student Trustee).

For the first order of business, Chairman Bill Hawley swore in Kaskaskia College's new Director of Public Safety Shawn Richards in a small ceremony at the beginning of the board meeting.

The college's FY23 tentative budget will be on display for public review Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (except Friday, July 29), in the office of the Vice President of Administrative Services, AD 211, Administration Building, 27210 College Road, Centralia IL 62801 for a minimum of 30 days, beginning no later than July 28, 2022, through September 16, 2022. It will also be available on the Kaskaskia College website, https://www.kaskaskia.edu/about-kc/consumer-information. A public hearing is scheduled for September 26, 2022, at 6:15 p.m., before the regular KC Board of Trustees meeting.

Kaskaskia College will also submit a Resource Allocation Management Program (RAMP) capital request for FY2024 to the Illinois Community College Board to seek funding for the following proposed projects:

•    Agriculture Education Center Parking Lot Replacement and Roadway Improvement as project #1

•    Elevator Improvements as project #2

•    Doorway Accessibility Improvement as project #3

Trustees approved the purchase of Perceptive Content, a paperless workflow, electronic signature, and document storage system, from Hyland Software, Inc. of Westlake, OH, for $267,570. The purchase and installation of a new paperless workflow system is essential for Kaskaskia College to provide more remote ability to students and employees for official documentation and to allow insight into the status of the submitted documentation. Additionally, a new paperless workflow system will employ the latest security standards and protocols while increasing reliability. The board also approved the purchase request for audio/visual equipment for the HB/L Building Renovation Project from CDW-G of Vernon Hills, IL, for $29,751.

The board reviewed and approved the renewal of the rental agreement with Prairie Creek, LLC, from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024, for 40 beds at $300 per month per bed with an option for three annual renewals. The Prairie Creek Apartments serves as housing for KC's NJCAA Division I athletes, as housing is one of the components of some student athlete's scholarship packages.

The board approved two new grant positions, an Early Childhood Consortium Grant Director and an Early Childhood Consortium Learning Lab Coordinator, contingent upon grant funding. Kaskaskia College is a partner of the Early Childhood Access Consortium for Equity, and both of these positions will work towards the goal of creating more accessible and equitable early childhood education higher education opportunities.

The board approved the transition request for Dean of Health Sciences Megan Holtmann back to full-time nursing faculty, effective October 1, 2022. With a recent nursing faculty resignation, there is a departmental need for a full-time faculty member. Additionally, the following personnel items were approved:

Employment:

•    Jennifer Gazda- Accounts Receivable Specialist

•    Justine Milicevic – Reading Link Coordinator

•    Byron Shanks – Industrial Technology Instructor for Greenville Federal Prison Camp

Resignation:

•    Jill Hercules – Director of Human Resources
