Millikin University is pleased to welcome actor, writer, comedian and MU alumnus Joel Kim Booster for the 2022 Goodheart Event on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at Albert Taylor Theatre. Named one of The New York Times’ “Queer Young Comics Redefining American Humor,” Booster has found success seemingly everywhere in 2022. In June, he starred in the Hulu rom-com “Fire Island,” which the AV Club called an “instant classic.” Booster’s first hourlong Netflix special “Psychosexual” also premiered in 2022, with Booster exploring his experiences as a gay Asian-American navigating identity, modern sexuality and cultural expectations.

Ticket Information

  • Each Millikin student will receive one (1) free ticket for the Goodheart Event by visiting the Kirkland Box Office. Students may purchase additional tickets for $10 each and should purchase those tickets no later than Oct. 24. Student ID required.
  • Alumni may purchase tickets for $15 each.
  • General public may purhcase tickets for $20 each.  
  • Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
  • No bags allowed at the show.
Millikin alum Joel Kim Booster is one of the hottest entertainers and stand-up comedians in Hollywood today! Joel Kim Booster is a Chicago-bred, Los Angeles-based comedian and writer. As a comedian he has appeared on Conan, Comedy Central’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, This Is Not Happening and @midnight, Logo’s Comedy Cabaret and truTV’s Comedy Knockout. In 2017, Joel recorded a stand-up special for Comedy Central’s The Half-Hour, a full-length stand-up album called Model Minority and was listed as one of Esquire’s “10 Comedians to Watch.” Joel recently had the honor of making Forbes’ 2018 “30 Under 30” list in their Hollywood and Entertainment category spotlighting the next generation of talent, Variety’s 2018 “10 Comics to Watch,” Vulture’s “20 Comedians You Should and Will Know,” and TimeOut’s “L.A. Comedians to Watch in 2018.” Film credits include The Week Of on Netflix and the upcoming feature Vulture Club from You Tube Red. His writing credits include Billy on the Street (truTV), Big Mouth (Netflix), the forthcoming Comedy Central series The Other Two and the pilot for Comedy Central’s Problematic with Moshe Kasher. The Goodheart Event was created through a gift from the late Margaret “Peggy” Goodheart Madden and her husband, the late G. William Madden. This gift was made in memory of Mrs. Madden’s father, the late William R. Goodheart Jr., who founded the Music Corporation of America (MCA). The Maddens’ generous gift provides Millikin students with access to outstanding entertainment at no charge.
