City of Hillsboro City Council met Aug. 5

City of Hillsboro City Council met Aug. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 am.

Roll call was taken and those present were Mayor Downs and Commissioners Wright, Butler and Gregory Commissioner Duncan was absent.

The "Pledge of Allegiance" was recited.

There were no public comments.

Motion was made by Commissioner Butler and seconded by Commissioner Wright to adopt Resolution No. 2022-07, a resolution authorizing notice pursuant to an employment contract. The resolution was for the termination of the employment contract for Police Chief Randy Leetham. Leetham will continue as the police chief for the City but without a contract. Motion carried 3-1 with Commissioner Gregory voting no.

Commissioner Gregory left the meeting at 8:12 am for family matters.

Motion was made by Commissioner Butler and seconded by Commissioner Wright to adopt Resolution No. 2022-08, a resolution approving the use of business district funds on certain property located at 233 S. Main St. in Hillsboro. The agreement will be for the City to reimburse the developer for a total of $3,000.00 or an amount equal to 50% of the costs. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion was made by Commissioner Wright and seconded by Commissioner Butler to approve a Façade Improvement Grant of 50% of the project costs up to $2,000.00 to Blake Delaney for work to be done at 441 S. Main St. in Hillsboro. Motion carried 3-0.

Motion was made by Commissioner Wright and seconded by Commissioner Butler to approve the application for SRF next fund cycle September 2022 for lead service line projects. Motion carried 3-0.

Agenda item No. 9 was pulled by Mayor Downs and Commissioner Butler made a motion to discuss and Commissioner Wright seconded the motion. Butler said the lift needs fixed and a local mechanic can do the work and it can be fixed by a kit that can be ordered for around $4,000.00. Butler said there will be more work needed in the future but it will pass inspection now if the current repairs are made. Butler said the money would come out of the business district and he will put it on the ag has the prices. Commissioner Butler made a motion to table the item and Commissioner Wright seconded the motion to table. Mayor Downs said the item was pulled so there was no roll call on the table or the original motion,

Motion to Adjourn was made at 8:31 am by Commissioner Wright and seconded by Commissioner Butler. Motion carried 3-0.
