Aldridge Earns SLIAC Player of the Week

Chanz Aldridge, senior guard for the Blackburn Men’s basketball team, received the honor of SLIAC Player of the Week on Monday. Aldridge won the award after his performance in the Bill Merris invitational tournament that took place this past weekend at Illinois College. Aldridge led the Beavers to a 90-79 win over Anderson on Saturday.

Aldridge finished with 25 points, the only Beaver on the team to surpass 20 points in the game. He shot 8-17 from the field, and 4-6 from behind the arc. With the addition of five made free throws, Aldridge finished with a shooting percentage of 47 percent.

Aldridge also averaged 24.5 points over the two games, while going 10-19 from the three-point line.

In addition to Aldridge’s stellar performance, Troy Cole Jr. assisted in the win over Anderson significantly as well. Cole Jr. had a double-double in the game, with eleven rebounds and 16 points. Five total players for Blackburn finished with double-digit points, including Eliot Harrison II with 14, Izayah Talmadge with twelve, and Cameron Johnson with thirteen points off the bench.

The Beavers now sit at an overall record of 3-2. They will take a weeklong break during the Thanksgiving holiday, but will be back on the court next Sunday, November 27th. Blackburn will host Dubuque for a regular season non-conference game, with tip off set for 2:00 p.m.
