Bond County Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Sept, 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Bond County Community Unity No. 2 held a special meeting on Thursday, September 1, 2022, in the BCCU #2 High School Library, 1000 E. State Rte. 140, Greenville, IL.

Board President Randi Workman called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

Those present were board members Prater, Reavis, Workman, and Zeeb. Others present were Superintendent Wes Olson; Principals Kara Harris and Gary Brauns; Birth to K Director/ Technology Director Meg Davendonis; Facilities Director Mike Wilhite; Board Secretary Emily Laesch; The Advocate Rebecca Sponsler; Members of the public that signed in were Ernie Oakley, Susan Corbus, Terry Marshall, and Mark Turok.

Board member Simmonds arrived at 5:01 p.m. Board members Frey and Gerl were absent.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Board members were given an email from Don Wall for public comment.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion by Zeeb, second by Reavis, that the board of education enter into executive meeting at 5:02 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity; and collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

RESIGNATION

Motion by Zeeb, second by Reavis, that the board of education return to open session at 6:42 p.m. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Simmonds, second by Reavis, to accept the resignation of Sean Courty as Scholastic Bowl Coach at BCCU #2 High School, effective immediately. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

GESPA CONTRACT

Motion by Zeeb, second by Simmonds, to ratify a one-year contract with the Greenville Educational Support Personnel Association for the 2022-2023 school year as listed. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

ADMINISTRATOR SALARIES

Motion by Reavis, second by Zeeb, to approve the administrator salaries for the 2022-2023 school year as listed in Exhibit A. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

NON-UNION, NON- CERTIFIED COMPENSATION

Motion by Simmonds, second by Reavis, to approve the non-union, non-certified personnel compensation for the 2022-2023 school year as listed in Exhibit B, Appendix C. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

SUPERINTENDENT SALARY

Motion by Zeeb, second by Simmonds, to approve the superintendent's salary for the 2022-2023 school year as listed in Exhibit C, Appendix B. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

ADMINISTRATOR'S CONTRACT

Motion by Simmonds, second by Reavis, to approve a contract for Gary Brauns, Principal at Greenville Junior High School as presented, through June 30, 2026, which will be his retirement date. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

PAYMENT FOR UNPAID SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER

Motion by Zeeb, second by Reavis, to approve the unpaid hours for Scott Pasley as a Substitute School Bus Driver retroactive to January 1, 2022, at the substitute bus driver rate as found in the GESPA contract. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

NEW HIRES - NON- CERTIFIED PERSONNEL

Motion by Simmonds, second by Reavis, to hire Ryan D'Arcy as the Scholastic Bowl Coach at BCCU #2 High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Zeeb, second by Reavis, to hire Miranda Smith as the Fall Play Director at BCCU #2 High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Reavis, second by Zeeb, to hire Tim Kelly as a Reading Aide at Greenville Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year, with placement at the entry level rate as listed in the GESPA contract. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Reavis, second by Simmonds, to transfer Allison Young from KRP Food Service Personnel to a KRP Paraprofessional for the 2022-2023 school year, with placement at the entry level rate as listed in the GESPA contract. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion. carried 5-0.

Motion by Simmonds, second by Zeeb, to hire Scott Pasley as a School Bus Driver beginning on January 1, 2023 at year 3 as listed in the GESPA contract. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

Motion by Simmonds, second by Reavis, to approve a tuition reimbursement to Stephen Zimmerman for the classes taken to become a certified Cooperative Education Teacher. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion by Zeeb, second by Reavis, that the meeting be adjourned at 6:49 p.m. Roll call vote: Prater, yes; Reavis, yes; Simmonds, yes; Workman, yes; Zeeb, yes. Motion carried 5-0.
