City of Assumption Finance Committee met Oct. 24.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall by Chairman Gary Nelsen.

Roll call was answered by Alderpersons Nelsen, Reed and Sullivan. Also present was Mayor Page, Treasurer Angel Palmer and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Triston Perry, Tom Dooley, Dan Davis, Connor Bridgman, Joyce Throneburg and Mike Corzine.

Alderperson Sullivan made a motion to approve the September 26, 2022 Finance Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderman Nelsen. Motion carried with Alderperson Nelsen, Reed and Sullivan voting aye and 0 nays.

Under old business:

No update on the damage from the tents at the tennis courts uptown.

Under new business:

The committee went over the following disbursement:

Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 Disbursement:

$238,610.86 Engineering

$62,323.20 Petersburg Plumbing

The fitness test was done for the hiring of a new officer. Candidates who passed will be interviewed.

The sidewalk by Lucky D’s was repaired with the extra concrete. Also a pad was poured near the Chlorine door at the Water Plant.

2 CD’s are up for renewal in November.

Bids are being accepted until November 2 at noon and will be opened at council.

The IML Risk Management invoice is $47,375.98. Committee agreed to place on the agenda for council.

The committee reviewed the recommendations from Moran and Associates for Koehl Bros. The committee agreed on payments of $5,000 for 3 years.

The Christmas lighting will be on November 26th and will include the part of Oak Street in front of the library.

The cost of a brick planter for the park is $1,800.00. TC Masonry is donating the materials but we will be paying for labor.

The cost of a sewer repair at 202 W Third Street is $2,520.64. The resident also requested a letter that the City is responsible if anything happens before it is replaced by Sanitary Sewer Phase 2.

The cost to jet sewers is $2,500.00. Committee agreed to place on the agenda for council.

Public Comments:

Triston Perry discussed his detail business and would like to know if the City was interested in setting up a contract for the City vehicles.

The Grow Assumption 226 presented an updated expenses sheet and would like to have a vote from the council in the near future to be able to move forward.

Finance Committee meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
