In a Jan. 11 Facebook post, Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) thanked her constituents for the opportunity to represent them in the Senate.
"Thank you to everyone who supported me. I look forward to continuing to be your voice in Springfield," the legislator wrote.
She posted a video where she shared a more in-depth statement.
“Hey 58th Senate District, I just want to say thank you for once again sending me here to Springfield. Today we're starting the 103rd General Assembly. I think it's going to be a wild ride for the next two years," she said. "I'll be looking for your help again in two years to continue to serve you. My commitment to you as always is to speak the truth to you, do the best I can do and with all the information that I have available ... to give you as much information as I can. But you know I'm in the old state Capitol today just taking everything in, on this awesome responsibility that you've given me and this tremendous honor so thank you for letting me serve you again for another two years.”
On Jan. 11 Bryant was named Assistant Republican Leader for the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus, according to an announcement on her website. It also included a comment from Sen. John Curran (R-Lemont), who is the Republican Leader in the Senate.
“I am tremendously honored to be given the opportunity to serve in Leader Curran’s leadership team,” Bryant said. “I look forward to taking on the new responsibilities that come with being in leadership and I’m excited to help our Caucus and state meet all of its great potential.”
“Senator Bryant has shown amazing promise and outstanding leadership during her short time with the Senate Republican Caucus,” said Curran. “I am certain that she will help move the Senate Republicans forward as our Caucus’ Assistant Republican Leader.”
