Iuka Community Consolidated School District 7 Board of Education met Nov. 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order by President Kevin Cripps at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Kevin Cripps, Sandi Wilson, Stephanie Jones, Michael Koehnke, Chad Eagan, Randi Dasch and Josh Harris. Also present were Superintendent Sam Alli, Board Clerk Stephanie Dodson and IEA Representatives Melissa Eddings and Stephanie Purintun.

President Kevin Cripps informed the board of additional bills: Derick Vincent $18.98, Gordon Stowe $100.00, Jamie Bunton $1736.00, KSED $8775.01, Katie Meyer $26.00, Village of Iuka $1120.80, Visa $ 199.56, and Peoples Bank $6006.51.

Motion by Randi Dasch and seconded by Chad Eagan to approve the agenda. Roll call vote:

Motion carried with a unanimous yea vote.

Motion by Josh Harris and seconded by Sandi Wilson to approve the following consent agenda items:

6.1A Shall the Board approve the minutes from the Monday, November 17th, 2022 regular meeting?

6.1B Shall the Board approve the bills as presented plus additional bills: Derick Vincent $18.98, Gordon Stowe $100.00, Jamie Bunton $1736.00, KSED $8775.01, Katie Meyer $26.00, Village of Iuka $1120.80, Visa $ 199.56, and Peoples Bank $6006.51.

Recognition of Guests: IEA Representatives Melissa Eddings and Stephanie Purintun Nothing new to Report

Motion by Stephanie Jones and seconded by Sandi Wilson to enter into Executive Session at 7:04 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity and collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives. Roll call vote:

Discussed the Report Card/Summative Designation. Overall students have performed very well when compared to the state average. We have out performed several of the area schools. Mr. Alli expects a decline in the upcoming years due to the pandemic. No motion was made.

Discussed the Boiler Installation Update. Baer Heating & Cooling Inc. has been very prompt and accommodating to our concerns with getting heat in the building. We have heat and they are in the finishing stages of updating the boiler. No motion made.

Motion by Josh Harris and seconded by Michael Koehnke to approve tentative Tax Levy for FY23. Board approved Tax Levy at 4.99%. This cap is under the current county tax cap. Should decrease our taxpayers Bill. Roll call vote:

Motion by Stephanie Jones and seconded by Josh Harris to approve purchasing Apptegy. Purchasing Apptegy will combine our phone service, website, and social media all in one app. Roll call vote:

Discussed Health, Life, Safety Visit. The ROE and Fire Marshall will be here November 22 to complete the Visit. No motion made.

Mr. Alli recognized 8th Grade Class. Winner of the canned food drive. They collected 604 cans of 1563 cans received.

Mr. Alli recognized Mrs. Shoemaker. She started the Art Club in 2020 and it continues to grow. She is providing an outlet to students to strive in an extracurricular activity. She is very hands on and involved with her students and the Art Club.

Announcements:

2nd Quarter mid-term was last week.

Beta Club gathered and sorted food items collected for Canned Food Drive on 11/14. Thanksgiving break is next week 11/24-11/26.

Christmas Program will be on December 8th.

Next Board meeting set for December 19th, 2022 at 7:00 P.M.
