City of Assumption Finance Committee met Nov. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall by Chairman Gary Nelsen.

Roll call was answered by Alderpersons Nelsen, Reed and Sullivan. Also present was Mayor Page and City Clerk Janet Waller.

Present in the audience was Brooke and Eric Knapp.

Alderperson Sullivan made a motion to approve the October 24, 2022 Finance Committee meeting minutes, seconded by Alderman Reed. Motion carried with Alderperson Nelsen, Reed and Sullivan voting aye and 0 nays.

Under old business:

No update on the damage from the tents at the tennis courts uptown.

Under new business:

The owners of Bricks Exquisite Eats would like to apply for a liquor license for their catering business. They need a local license to apply for the state catering license. They will not be serving alcohol at their restaurant. Committee agreed to send to council for approval.

The bill for new officer’s clothing for the academy is $1,600.00.

Motion to approve the tax levy will be on the agenda at council. The council agreed to check with the Treasurer regarding the amount of increase.

A resolution and TIF agreement will be on the agenda for the council.

A bill was received for $3,009.40 for the dump truck. Committee agreed to place on the agenda for council.

The TIF Eligibility Study for Grow Assumption will cost $150.00 and may take up to 35 hours to complete. The committee agreed not to exceed $5,250.00 for the analysis.

The cost of fireworks for 2023 will be $9,000.00 due to the 10 percent increase.

Mayor Page noted a check for over $300,000.00 has been received for Sanitary Sewer Phase 2 but will not be deposited until the account has been cleared for Sanitary Sewer Phase 1.

The committee discussed ways on how to possibly fund for new vehicles for the departments in the future.

Public Comments:

The owners of Bricks Exquisite Eats asked for a local liquor license for their catering business.

Finance Committee meeting was adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
