Macoupin County Board Public Safety Committee met Jan. 3

Macoupin County Board Public Safety Committee met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: Kiel, Dragovich, Ibberson, Payne (Remote), Starr, Wiggins, Duncan, Boehler, Kahl

ABSENT: Acord

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Update on Animal Control HVAC and American Rescue Plan

Boehler said she had checked with both Snell and Kufa both said they couldn't put in anything besides a flex. Kufa come out and went into the attic to look at everything and the attic looked just fine to them. She had not looked into Pure Air as their bid was so much higher than the other two. Kufa was the lowest bid. Boehler said Kufa had come on a call to recharge the units when it got significantly colder and it had helped significantly. The committee decided to see if the recharge had helped enough that the units would not need replaced as they are relatively new.

2. Cell Phone Service in Carlinville

Starr said he had wanted to discuss this as the cell service in Carlinville was horrible. It would lead to a problem at some point as there are certain areas that no service is available. He wanted the Board to consider sending a letter asking for the service to be looked at. Kahl said a letter wouldn't help. He had reached out to AT&T before and said our service sucks and all they told him was to turn on WI-FI calling. Kiel said he still would like to do something to at least show the Board is aware of the issue and trying to get it resolved.

Motion by Dragovich, seconded by Starr to recommend to the Board reaching out to a regulatory body regarding the cell service issues.

RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS]

MOVER: Mark Dragovich, Vice Chair

SECONDER: Harry Starr, Member

AYES: Kiel, Dragovich, Ibberson, Payne, Starr, Wiggins

ABSENT: Acord
