Iuka Community Consolidated School District 7 Board of Education met Jan. 17.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order by President Kevin Cripps at 5:04 p.m. Members present were Kevin Cripps, Sandi Wilson, Stephanie Jones, Chad Eagan, and Josh Harris. Also present were Superintendent Sam Alli, Board Clerk Stephanie Dodson and IEA Representatives Mackenzie Webster and Ann Wilzbach. Also present was Nathan Storm.

President Kevin Cripps informed the board of additional bills: J.W. Pepper & Sons $102.99, Jamie Bunton $868.00, Jessica Dial $476.16, KSED $7495.01, Village of Iuka $843.70, and Wabash Independent $1000.50. Motion by Chad Eagan and seconded by Sandi Wilson to approve the agenda. Roll call vote:

Harris Yea

Motion carried with 5 yea votes and 2 absent.

Motion by Chad Eagan and seconded by Stephanie Jones to approve the following consent agenda items:

6.1A Shall the Board approve the minutes from the Monday, December 19th, 2022 regular meeting?

6.1B Shall the Board approve the bills as presented plus additional bills: J.W. Pepper & Sons $102.99, Jamie Bunton $868.00, Jessica Dial $476.16, KSED $7495.01, Village of Iuka $843.70, and Wabash Independent $1000.50.

6.1C Shall the Board approve the payroll?

6.1D Shall the Board approve the Treasurer’s Report?

6.1E Shall the Board destroy verbatim Closed Session minutes up to 18 months back?

Nathan Storm: Introduced himself to the board and expressed interest in the Bus Driver Position.

Motion by Sandi Wilson and seconded by Josh Harris to enter into Executive Session at 5:06 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity and collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives. Roll call vote:

Motion by Stephanie Jones and seconded by Sandi Wilson to accept resignation from Mrs. Vincent from Cheer Coach. Roll call vote:

Discussed new boilers. Boilers are all up and working. Working with Baer Heating was a pleasant experience.

Flooring was installed in hallway, conference Room, and Mrs. Phillips Room.

Discussed upcoming Staff Negotiations.

Discussed the Building and Maintenance Update. We have been awarded the matching grant of $50,000. Once 1% sales tax money is built back up, we will determine where to use these funds.

Mr. Alli recognized Juliette Page and Journey Hostlaw for helping younger students learn how to type.

Mr. Alli recognized Stephanie Dodson. She has been working hard on learning her position and helping out with new tasks.

Other Business:

HB 5188 was not called to vote.

Announcements:

3rd and 4th grade PeeWee Tournament at Iuka January 20-21.

Midterm is January 27th.

Junior High Valentines Dance, February 11th from 6:00-9:00pm for 6th through 8th grades, sponsored by Iuka Fire Department.

February 20th is President’s Day, No School

Next Board meeting is Tuesday, February 21st, 2023.
