A handful of walks led to DeSales taking an early 1-0 lead over Blackburn. Another string of hits led DeSales to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Beavers cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the inning.

DeSales increased the lead to 4-1 in the top of the third. They extended the lead even further in the top of the fifth from a string of walks allowed by Blackburn. The Beavers made things interesting in the bottom of the fifth. A single by Breana Allen followed by a single from Chelsea Terranova led to three runs scored by Blackburn. At the end of the fifth, the score was 6-4.

DeSales put the finishing touches on the game in the top of the sixth and seventh innings. They plated a run in each frame, making their lead 8-4 going into the bottom of the seventh. Blackburn was unable to mount the comeback and lost the opening game of their spring break trip.
