Bryant: 'The World Shooting & Recreational Center in Sparta is currently hiring several seasonal positions for events'

In an April 13 Facebook post, State Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) shared several job openings at World Shooting & Recreational Center. 

In her Facebook post, Bryant shared a link where people can explore the employment vacancies.

"Important, The World Shooting & Recreational Center in Sparta is currently hiring several seasonal positions for events. Please share with anyone you think may be interested, Bryant said. 

According to the graphic in her post, the organization is hiring for a wide variety of positions, such as sport and clays technicians as well as berm technicians, trap/skeet technicians, customer service specialists, a customer service representative, special events technician, and a target-throwing machine mechanic, all of which have an application deadline of April 25. Also, positions for scorers and loaders have the later application deadline of Aug. 31.

The World Shooting and Recreation Center consists of 120 trap houses spread out over a 3.5 miles, two sporting clays courses, 24 combination trap/skeet fields, in addition to cowboy action shooting. The complex is near Sparta, and is the host venue of the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American Trapshooting Championships.

According to its website, "the WSRC is near three airports and less than 50 miles from three metropolitan areas including St. Louis, MO. Visitors to the complex will have access to a variety of amenities from quaint local restaurants and shops to the bustling activities of the St. Louis area." 

Fishing is also allowed at the complex before sunset. 

Bryant was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2014, and was then elected to the Illinois Senate in 2020. Bryant represents the 58th Senate District which includes all or parts of Edwards, Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Jefferson, Marion, Monroe, Perry, Randolph, St. Claire, Wabash, Washington, Wayne, and White counties. She was chosen as assistant Republican leader for the Senate Republican Caucus in 2023.
