City of Kinmundy City Council met March 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

I. Call to Order

• The Kinmundy Public Library Board ofTrustees met on Wednesday March 8, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. Members present were Levi Bridges, Lorraine Day, Kartl Garrett, Jeanette Hoeinghaus, Crystal Squibb. Delyn Scanley. and Director Elecia Cooper.

• The President called the meeting to order and asked for a motion to amend the agenda to accept the resignation of Board Member Sracey Arenas. The agenda was amended after motion by Lorraine and second by Levi. Then Levi made a motion to accept the resignation. Lorraine seconded. and the motion carried.

3. Approval of Minutes

• Copies of the February minutes were distributed, and Delyn made a motion to approve. Crystal seconded, and the motion carried.

4. Treasurer's Report

• Lorraine reported that expenses for the month totaled $1584.59. The treasurer's report reconciled with the bank statement at $23,425.21. Lorraine also volunteered to investigate CD interest rates at different financial institutions and report the results at the next meeting for consideration of moving some of the funds to receive a higher interest rate. The treasurer's report was approved after motion by Crystal and second by Delyn.

5. Library Report

• The Fax machine is not working properly. Elecia is looking for a pennanent solution to the problem.

• Elecia has completed the Library Traffic Report and Certification Report.

• Patoka has a new librarian, and Elecia has been assisting her as she has questions about handling her job responsibilities.

• Elecia visited South Central High School to assist students who wanted a library card available without charge under the Cards for Kids program. Eight new patrons chose to participate.

• Brittany Lemmons from a Birth to 5 program met with Elecia and volunteered to have a Story Time at the library. She is gathering data from focus groups to detennine needs in the community such as more child care services. The Board favors having Brittany present a Story Time at the library.

• Library use was up this month with 405 items checked out, and 350 patrons coming to the library.

6. Old Business

• The small library sign on Route 37 has been installed. and the other signs have been delivered to the library awaiting installation. Kinmundy city workers will install the sign to the front of the building. Before the parking lot sign can be installed, a concrete section will need to be removed. As the details are worked out, the Board will be updated.

7. New Business

• The meeting dates set are April 12, May 10, June 7, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13 in 2023. To complete the schedule. January 10. February 7, and March 13, 2024 were added.

• Several suggestions were presented for Updating the library's Mission Statement. The favorite was "Kinmundy Public Library-We're Not Just Books."

• Elecia distributed copies ofthe proposed Computer, Electronic Equipment & Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Jeanette made a motion to approve it. Lorraine seconded, and the policy was adopted.

• Ideas were presented for future programming and fundraising. Volunteers are gathering information and will report back next month.

• The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. with the next meeting scheduled for April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
