City of Carlinville City Council met April 3

City of Carlinville City Council met April 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

PRESENT: Presiding Chair Alderman Downey, Alderman Harber, Alderman LeVora, Alderman Link, Alderman McClain, Alderman Ober, Alderman Wagstaff, City Clerk Carla Brockmeier, Chief Derek Graham, City Treasurer Jody Reichmann, Woodard and Curran Representative Dan Held, Budget Officer Linda Boente, Attorney Don Craven Absent: Mayor Oswald, Alderman Koller

Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion was made by Alderman Harber to approve minutes, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Approval of Bills - Motion made to approve bills by Alderman LeVora, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.

Correspondence

Gina Bellm Correspondence – Motion was made to approve blocking four parking spots for a special event on the square on April 22nd by Alderman Harber, seconded by Link, motion passed unanimously.

Police Commissioners Correspondence – Motion was made by Alderman LeVora to approve the police commissioner’s correspondence to hire two new officers to put us as full staff, seconded by Ober, motion passed unanimously.

Public Comment – None

Old Business

Approval for Purchase of Lawn Mower – A motion was made by Alderman Link to purchase a new Kubota lawn mower from Nail’s Power Equipment for the price of $10,998.00, seconded by Wagstaff, motion passed unanimously.

Budget 2023-24/Availability/Publication – Alderman Harber let the council and public know that the budget will be available for pubic viewing April 17th and we will be publishing the public notice for the public hearing in the paper. Passing of the budget is set for May 1st.

New Business

Update – Our Market – Chris Hartsook addressed the council regarding the Our Market grocery store coming to the plaza. He passed an information sheet out and stated that the market is looking for investors with a grand opening date of September 30th.

Winning Communities Project Update – Brandon Little spoke regarding overall mission of Winning Communities. Mary Tinder then spoke regarding the grant that the tourism group has received and some of the projects they are working on within the city limits. A structure for brochures on the square, and installation of signs in the Standard Addition area are part of the grant. Both of which she was asking for help with from the city.

Zoning Code Ordinance – tabled for Aldermen to further review.

Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman LeVora at 6:42 p.m., seconded by Ober motion passed unanimously.
