Germantown School District 60 Board of Education met May 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Special meeting called to order by President Danielle Ribbing at 7:00p.m. with the following members present: Amy Hemker, Shannon Hickman, Matt Korte, Lee Deerhake, Jessica Hemker and Danielle Ribbing. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker, Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen, Teacher Trisha Weekley and Board Members Elect Andrea Linders, Nicole Peters and Ashley Winter. Board Member Terry Biggs was absent.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.

Motion (2022/23-129) to approve the agenda was made by Mrs. S. Hickman with a second by Mrs. A. Hemker. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2022/23-130) to approve the Item of Consent as follows was made by Mrs. A. Hemker with a second by Mr. Matt Korte. Motion carried (6-0).

Item of Consent:

1. Approve Minutes of April 12, 2023

Motion (2022/23-131) to declare elected board members and certify the election results was made by Mrs. A.Hemker with a second by Mrs. Hickman. Roll call vote showed the following: A. Hemker, aye; Hickman, aye; Korte, aye; Deerhake, aye; J. Hemker, aye and Ribbing, aye.

Election Results from the April 3, 2023 Election are as follows:

Lee Deerhake 440

Nicole Peters 313

Ashley Winter 303

Comments from outgoing board members, Amy Hemker and Shannon Hickman, were shared with the board and those in attendance along with comments from Lee Deerhake, Matt Korte, Superintendent Becker and Teacher Trisha Weekley.

Superintendent Becker recognized outgoing board members Amy Hemker and Shannon Hickman for their eight years of service to the district along with outgoing board member Danielle Ribbing for her four years of service to the district.

Motion (2022/23-132) to adjourn “Sine Die” at 7:20 p.m. was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mrs. J. Hemker. Motion carried (6-0).

Re-organizational Meeting Minutes

Re-organizational meeting called to order by President Pro Tempore Superintendent Becker at 7:21 p.m. with the following members present: Matt Korte, Jessica Hemker, Andrea Linders, Nicole Peters, Ashley Winter and Lee Deerhake. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker and Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen and Teacher Trisha Weekley. Board Member Terry Biggs was absent.

Oath of Office was recited by the new and returning members of the Board of Education.

Motion (2022/23-133) to approve the agenda was made by Mr. Korte with a second by Mr. Deerhake. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2022/23-134) to elect Lee Deerhake as Board President was made by Mr. Korte with a second by Mrs. J. Hemker. Roll call vote showed the following: Korte, aye; Hemker, aye; Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, ayer and Deerhake, abstained.

Motion (2022/23-135) to elect Jessica Hemker as Vice-President was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mr. Korte. Roll call vote showed the following: Hemker, abstained; Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Korte, aye and Deerhake, aye.

Motion (2022/23-136) to appoint Leigh Ann Arentsen as Board Secretary was made Mrs. Hemker with a second by Mr. Deerhake. Roll call vote showed the following: Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Korte, aye; Hemker and Deerhake, aye.

Motion (2022/23-137) to appoint Darlene Beer as Treasurer was made by Mr. Korte with a second by Mrs. Hemker. Roll call vote showed the following: Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Korte, aye; Hemker, aye; Linders, aye and Deerhake, aye.

New Business:

Motion (2022/23-138) to adopt Policies/Procedures/Handbooks was made by Mrs. Hemker with a second by Mr Deerhake. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2022/23-139) to Set Board Meetings for the Second Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm was made by Mr. Deerhake with a second by Mr. Korte. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2022-23/141) to authorize account signatories (on file at bank as follows) was made by Mrs. Hemker with a second by Mr. Korte. Roll call vote showed the following: Korte, aye; Hemker, aye; Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye and Deerhake, aye.

General Checking Account: Robin Becker, Darlene Beer

Impress Checking Account: Robin Becker, Leigh Ann Arentsen, and Deanna Kehder 

Bulldog Checking Account: Robin Becker, Leigh Ann Arentsen, Deanna Kehder, (requires two signatures)

Motion (2022-23-142) to appoint Andrea Linders as KSED Governing Board Representative was made by Mrs. Hemker with a second by Mr. Korte. Motion carried (6-0).

Motion (2022/23-143) to retain Attorney of Record as Robbins, Schwartz, Nicholas, Lifton and Taylor of Collinsville was made by Mr. Korte with a second by Mrs. Winter. Roll call vote showed the following: Hemker, aye; Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Korte, aye and Deerhake, aye.

Motion (2022/23-144) to retain the auditing firm of Glass and Shuffett, Ltd was made by Mrs. Hemker with a second by Mrs. Peters. Roll call vote showed the following: Linders, aye; Peters, aye; Winter, aye; Korte, aye; Hemker, aye; and Deerhake, aye.

Motion (2022/23-145) to adjourn the meeting at 7:47 p.m. was made by Mr. Korte with a second by Mrs. Hemker. Motion carried 6-0).
