Mt. Olive Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met Sept. 19.

The Board of Education met for the special board meeting on September 19, 2023 in the school library. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Brunnworth. Present at roll call were Brunnworth, Essington, Knes, Osmoe, Remer, Rimar, and Skertich. Also present were Superintendent Kelly, Principal Scheller, Tori Cerutti, Kailynn Walker, Mackenzie Knox, Jennifer Stockstill, and Nikki Garrels.
Hearings before the board pursuant to Board Policy 8:30 to determine whether to deny individuals admission to school events or meetings for up to 1 calendar year due to reported prohibited conduct on school grounds:
Board president, David Brunnworth, outlined expectations for the hearing. Administration reported on the prohibited conduct on school grounds exhibited by Jacob and Tori Cerutti. Tori Cerutti stated her case and reported concerns related to her children.
Motion by Brunnworth, seconded by Skertich to enter closed session at 7:24 p.m. Roll call: 7 ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by Skertich, seconded by Osmoe to return to open session at 7:42 p.m. Roll call: 7 ayes. Motion carried.
Action following the hearings to determine whether to deny individuals admission to school events or meetings for up to 1 calendar year due to reported prohibited conduct on school grounds, pursuant to Board Policy 8:30:
Motion by Skertich, seconded by Remer to suspend Tori Cerutti for up to 1 calendar year due to reported prohibited conduct on school grounds, pursuant to Board Policy 8:30. Roll call: 7 ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by Brunnworth, seconded by Osmoe to suspend Jacob Cerutti for up to 1 calendar year due to reported prohibited conduct on school grounds, pursuant to Board Policy 8:30. Roll call: 7 ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by Remer, seconded by Osmoe to adjourn at 7:46 p.m. All ayes. Motion carried.
The annual budget hearing will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 20, 2023. The next regular board meeting will be at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday September 20, 2023. The meetings will be held in the library at 804 W. Main Street, Mt. Olive, IL.
