Bond County Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Oct. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Bond County Community Unit No. 2 held a special meeting on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the Office of Student Services Conference Room, 1008 N. Hena St., Greenville, IL. 

Board President Randi Workman called the meeting to order at 5:53 p.m. 

Those present were board members Frey, Gerl, Reavis, Wall, and Workman. Others present were Superintendent Wes Olson; Board Secretary Emily Laesch; and Illinois Association of School Boards Advisor Patrick Allen. 

Board Members Carr and Simmonds were absent. 

Board Secretary Laesch left at 8:00 p.m. 

PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. 

PRESENTATION AND Dr. Olson introduced Mr. Patrick Allen from the Illinois Association of School Boards 

DISCUSSION 

to speak on Board Governance and allow the Board to perform a self-evaluation. 

ADJOURN 

Mr. Allen gave a presentation of what the work of the School Board is what the Superintendent's role is. The six items the School should do are listed as follows: 

1. The Board clarifies District Purpose. 

2. The Board connects with the Community. 3. The Board employs a Superintendent. 

4. The Board delegates Authority. 

5. The Board monitors Performance. 

6. The Board take Responsibility for Itself. 

Board members gave input during the presentation and discussed ways to become better at meeting the six points. 

The meeting was adjourned.
