Hillsboro Community School District 3 Board of Education Curriculum Committee met Feb. 8.
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
1. Meeting called to order at 5:00pm by Dr. Kirby.
2. Attendees: Board Members Mike Cerutti, Nathan Kirby, and John Lentz, Superintendent David Powell, Curriculum Director Hope McBrain, 1 member of the public
3. Hope McBrain discussed that K-5 teachers and administrators did not recommend renewing Inquiry Journeys and instead staff would develop a map of the units, standards, and resources used. She then presented information on a new social studies series at the junior high and shared potential changes at the high school including the addition of a new criminal justice course.
4. The committee compared assessment data to that of surrounding districts and discussed the need for improvements in math and the lack of valid data at the high school.
5. Hope McBrain shared a Business Management course request from the high school business department. The course will introduce students to business concepts and be a gateway course for the CEO program.
6. Meeting was adjourned at 5:55pm.
