City of Hillsboro City Council met Feb. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m.

Roll call was taken and those present were Mayor Don Downs and Commissioners Kendra Wright, Fred Butler, and Patrick Ward. Commissioner Tommy Justison was absent.

The “Pledge of Allegiance” was recited.

Public Comment:

Anne Foster, owner of 335 East Wood Street, addressed the council about Ordinance 1786 vacating a pair of alleyways between Wood Street and Central Park. She stated she is concerned about how the alley gets divided and whose responsibility it will be to maintain the sidewalks that are vacated. Mayor Downs stated a shared driveway would be an issue if the council vacated one of the alleys because its entrance would be completely on one of the adjacent properties instead of being shared. Commissioner Butler said he would like to pull the item from the agenda for now until they have a chance to talk with all of the affected property owners.

Motion to adjourn was made at 6:51 p.m. by Commissioner Ward and seconded by Commissioner Butler. Motion carried with a 4-0 vote in favor.
