2. Discussion Regarding Need to Replace 911 Road Signs

Aaron BIshop discussed that many of the road signs on county roads had been faded from the sun and weren't readable at night. It would require a significant amount of funding to replace each sign. The costs for replacing everything from the anchors in the ground to the actual signs was about $330. There was adiscussion about how to begin to replace these signs as a full replacement of each one would be about $400,000. There was some potential left over money in the capital outlay budget this fiscal year that could be used for the first phase of about $50,000. Starr mentioned though that at some point the capital outlaybudget would need to be increased at some point as it had already been cutonce this fiscal year. The committee decided to request from each township a list of their signs that most need to be replaced so that hopefully signs would bereplaced throughout the county.

Motion by Starr, seconded by Ibberson to reach out to the townships for a list of the signs they need replaced the most.

RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS]

MOVER: Harry Starr, Member

SECONDER: Jim Ibberson, Member

AYES: Kiel, Barr, Ibberson, Payne, Starr

3. Update on Emergency Management Agency Activities

Susan Lewis discussed the office and some of the trainings she had been receiving the last few years. The county would need to update the hazard mitigation plan which would be covered by about a $50,000 grant to cover it. The Board had been invited to attend those meetings. She also discussed the county's emergency plans which were very detailed.
