Southwestern Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met April 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Southwestern Board of Education members met for a special session on April 2, 2024, at 7 pm at the Middle School Commons in Piasa, Illinois. Jason Oertel-President, called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Roll call showed those members present as: Jenny Hanks, Donna Loy, Jason Oertel, Jacob Reno, Brad Schuchman, Nicholas Strohbeck, and Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Bowman. Charlie Harres, Holland Construction representative was also present.

Jason Oertel-President led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Public Comment: No public comment.

The board reviewed and discussed the Summer 2024 bid of $5,214,000.00. Jason Oertel made a motion to approve the Summer 2024 bid from Holland as well as the value engineering option-new boiler system manufacturer $50,000-$75,000. Nicholas Strohbeck made the second motion to approve the motion as stated.

Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Hanks, Loy, Oertel, Reno, Schuchman, and Strohbeck

Nays: None

MOTION CARRIED.

Jenny Hanks made a motion to employ Tyler Charlesworth as Technology Director with Donna Loy seconding the motion for such.

Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Loy, Oertel, Reno, Schuchman, Strohbeck, and Hanks

Nays: None

MOTION CARRIED.

Brad Schuchman made a motion to adjourn the meeting with Jacob Reno seconding adjournment.

Roll Call Vote:

Ayes: Oertel, Reno, Schuchman, Strohbeck, Hanks, and Loy

Nays: None

MOTION CARRIED.

Meeting adjourned at 7:36pm.
