Edinburg Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education met April 10.

THE EDINBURG COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 met in Regular Session on Wednesday April 10, 2024 at 6:05 pm The Meeting was held in the District Media Center, 100 E. Martin St., Edinburg, IL 62531.

Consider Approval of the Consent Agenda. Motion by LEADY and seconded by HUNSLEY to Approve the Consent Agenda. Motion carries (6/0).

Principal Report

Mr. Qualters presented the principal's report and spoke about the following items.

● Mrs. Siemer and FFA hosted Donkey Basketball last Friday, April 5th. It was a packed gym and fun night for all.

● Monday’s solar eclipse was a great day. The district purchased Solar Eclipse Glasses for each student and staff member. Classes were taken outside during the day to look at how the eclipse changes.

● On April 12th, our Freshmen and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT while our juniors are taking the SAT.

● The Jr. High and High School will be taking the ISA next week. This is an assessment that 5th, 8th, and 11th graders take each year.

● Ms. Turner took the juniors on a field trip to Springfield. They went to Lincoln’s Home. the Presidential Museum and the Illinois Military Museum.

● We are hosting the MSM Bass Fishing tournament at Sangchris on April 18th.

● Dutch Nave donated his fathers boat to the school

Superintendent Report

Mrs. Francis presented the superintendent report and discussed the following items.

● We had a great turnout for family reading night. Thank you to everyone that made it a great night. Plans are already being developed for next year.

● Elementary is finished with IAR.

● Mrs. Francis thanked Shilyn Grossmann and Ellery Orr for their dedication to our district. We have big shoes to fill and we will be filling one of those this evening.

● We are starting to plan for the 24-25 school year

VII. BUSINESS

VII.1. Motion was made by LEADY and seconded by MORELAND to approve the 24-25 Course Handbook. Motion carries (6/0)

VII.2. 1st Reading Press Issue 114

VIII. Motion was made by MORELAND and seconded by LEADY to enter into executive session at 6:37 PM. Motion carries (6/0)

VIII. EXECUTIVE SESSION (ROLL CALL)

VIII.2. Motion was made by HUNSLEY and seconded by MORELAND to exit the executive session at 8:18 PM. Motion carries (6/0)

IX. PERSONNEL REPORT

IX.1. Motion was made by HUNSLEY and seconded by MORELAND to consider the approval of the Personnel Report to include The resignation of Ellery Orr as Pre-K Teacher, Shilyn Grossmann as second grade teacher, Taylor Moran as bus driver, and the Hiring or Doug Senf as Full Time bus driver and Natalia Cina as Pre-K Teacher. Motion carried (5/0).
