Germantown School District 60 Board of Education met April 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting called to order by President Lee Deerhake at 7:00pm with the following members present: Andrea Linders, Nicole Peters, Ashley Winter and Lee Deerhake. Also in attendance: Superintendent Robin Becker, Assistant Principal Trisha Weekley, SEL/RtI/Special Education Coordinator Kristine Beer, Board Secretary Leigh Ann Arentsen, Teacher Representative Rose Wilken and visitor Danielle Ribbing. Board members Matt Korte, Terry Biggs and Jessica Hemker were absent.

Motion (2023-24/106) to approve the agenda was made by Mrs. Winter with a second by Mrs. Peters. Motion carried (4-0).

Assistant Principal Report:

● 3rd Quarter Discipline Report - Class Dojo percentages were discussed. Junior High detentions have increased since the 2nd Quarter. There has been an uptick in trash talk that is inappropriate in nature. Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Weekley talked to the sixth grade students last week to reinforce what they have been learning in Mindful Morning and SEL/House activities and also to encourage them to put what they have learned to use. An email was also sent out to the parents to request their help with reinforcing this at home.

● March Student of the Months - Congratulations to 3rd grader, Kain Eversgerd, and 4th grader, Jayden Campa-Solis, who were chosen as our Students of the Month for March. Kain chose Children’s Hospital for his charity while Jayden chose the Clinton County Humane Society.

Superintendent Report:

● The Capital Campaign Committee met again on Monday Night. The lineup for the 5 bands has been announced. Corporate sponsorships have been rolling in, and we currently stand at $193,350 with another $40,000 committed just not received yet. Social media has gotten a lot of traction since the lineup announcement. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, April 12, at 8:00am.

● End of Year Activities - Graduation has been set for Tuesday, May 14, and the last day of school will be Monday, May 20. Lee Deerhake and Ashley Winter will assist with Graduation along with former board member Shannon Hickman presenting to her graduating son.

● Junior High Schedule - It is that time of year again to talk about continuing with offering the Algebra program or not. This program allows the district to have continued success with the Math Team along with the students’ added personal preparation for high school. The general consensus of the group is to continue with the program.

● Fees - Here is our current fee schedule. The recommendation is to raise the lunch fee. With the skyrocketing food prices, our lunch program is struggling to make ends meet.

IASB Liaison Report - Ashley Winter

● Nothing really to report this month.
