Macoupin County Ad Hoc Committee on Community Police Presence met April 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: Stayton, Kiel, Rosentreter, Dixon, Garrison

ABSENT: Klausing, Kahl, Reiher, Frericks

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Items revealed from the Chiefs meeting

Stayton said that he felt like last month's meeting went well. The big takeaways would be that local chiefs want more communications with the Sheriff's department, continued communications between themselves, and help with grants. There was a potential grant writer who was interested, but he said law enforcement grants usually begin in July so there was not a need to really start right now.

2. Is this our last meeting?

There was a discussion about how often the committee needed to meet. The committee did not want to really disband entirely, but felt they didn't need on a monthly basis. They could perhaps meet every 5 or 6 months.

3. ITEMS TO HAND OFF TO PUBLIC SAFETY

Based off of the decision to meet again in a few months, the State's Attorney said he would meet with the Chiefs in June and try and encourage them to continue to meet to communicate with one another. The county would also continue to look at the possibility of a grant writer to assist with law enforcement grants.
