Macoupin County Board Public Safety Committee met May 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ABSENT:

II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Animal Control Part Time Salaries

Schmidt said that Christina Genisio has already resigned after 5 days as the administrator. Boehler was agreeing to continue on as they advertise for the position over the next few weeks. They would run the notice and hire someone soon.

There was also a discussion about the hourly rate paid to Christina Genisio for the part time hours she has worked. They had previously discussed paying her the hourly rate of her salary if she had been the full time administrator. There was never a signed contract. Part time employees were normally paid $14 hours.

Motion by Payne, seconded by Starr to pay her $14 an hour for the hours worked from April 18th to May 6th.

RESULT: APPROVED [UNANIMOUS]

MOVER: Jon Payne, Member

SECONDER: Harry Starr, Member

AYES: Kiel, Dragovich, Barr, Adden, Ibberson, Payne, Starr

2. Resolution Declaring that Macoupin County Will Not Spend of Accept Local Tax Dollars on the Immigration Crisis for Migrants and/or Asylum Seekers Entering Macoupin County

Kiel said that there had been some calls about the county adopting a resolution like this. The one passed out was the Montgomery County resolution. Starr said that he felt that the language should include the word illegal. The committee liked that idea but the State's Attorney said he wanted to review the specific requirements on migrants and asylum seekers to make sure that those who are following legal methods are exempt.

Motion by Starr, seconded by Ibberson to recommend to the full Board the resolution pending the State's Attorney review of the language.
