Iuka Community Consolidated School District 7 Board of Education met Aug. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order by Board President Kevin Cripps. Members present were Stephanie Jones, Kate Bookhout, Kevin Cripps, Sandi Wilson, Josh Harris, and Chad Eagan also present were Superintendent Sam Alli, Assistant Superintendent Derick Vincent, Board Clerk Stephanie Dodson, and IEA Representatives Melissa Eddings, and Julie Berry.

Motion by Sandi Wilson and seconded by Josh Harris to approve the agenda. Roll call vote:

Assistant Superintendent Update: Mr. Vincent updated the board on the bleachers for gym floor, new stage curtain, and tiles replaced in teachers’ rooms. Still awaiting to dampers for ventilators. Mr. Vincent would like to get a quote on a canvas floor for the gym, Board in agreement.

Mr. Alli discussed the renewable energy plan. Board would like for Mr. Piasecki to come and go over all the logistics and answer any questions.

Administrative Report:

Mr. Alli recognized Bentley Wilson for helping another student get their items to class. Mr. Alli recognized the office staff for all their hard work so far this year.

Other Business:

Community Involvement- Reading Night September 3rd with parents. Pirate Backers had some suggestions for concessions and ball shed. Mrs. Rightnowar had a Kindergarten Orientation for parents.
