II. AGENDA ITEMS

1. Training of New Animal Control Administrator

Kiel said that the new administrator had started and there was a question about  how long to have Boehler stay on to train Gerl. Boehler said she thought it would  be about 2 weeks minimum with a spayed and neutered clinic and end of month  as well as the budget/bills. There was a question about if there was budgeted  dollars for the training. There was also a question about what the rate of pay  would be. After some discussion, the committee felt 2 weeks at the current rate  of pay would be sufficient.

Motion by Dragovich, seconded by Adden to recommend to the full Board  paying Boehler for 2 weeks of training at her current rate of pay.

RESULT: MOTION TO RECOMMEND [UNANIMOUS]

MOVER: Mark Dragovich, Vice Chair

SECONDER: Ross Adden, Member

AYES: Kiel, Dragovich, Barr, Adden, Ibberson, Payne, Starr

2. Discussion on Metroeast Humane Society

KIel said that after last month when the Board said they were interested in  exploring a relationship with the Metroeast Humane Society. He asked what  types of things they could help with. Boehler said some of the things they could  provide are protocols for cleaning and bedding, dogs playing for life program  which involves dogs that may be aggressive around other dogs and how to  introduce them to dogs that might be able to help them adapt to allow for them to  become adopted quicker. There was also the possibility of the adoption center  being taken over by them and the county only being in charge of Animal Control.  The committee asked for them to be invited to the next committee meeting and  provide as much information as possible about what could happen between the  county and the society.
