FOIA Request to City of Nokomis Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
South Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Nokomis. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
We are seeking a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, until today's date. The requested information includes the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
In addition to this, we have also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as above are required for these active permits.
As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have asked for a fee waiver as media professionals.
