FOIA Request to City of Vandalia Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Vandalia.
Our request is for a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the present date. We have asked for specific details including the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.
Additionally, we have also requested information about all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above are required for these active permits as well.
As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us. We believe that this information will aid in our reporting and provide valuable insights into local government operations.
We have requested that this information be provided in an electronic format for ease of use and analysis. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
