FOIA Request Sent to City of Gillespie Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Gillespie Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.

In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Central Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The request, sent on October 30, 2024, is aimed at obtaining information about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till the present date.

The requested data includes details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the construction is taking place, and the contractor's name. This information will help us paint a clearer picture of construction activities within the city over this period.

In addition to this, we have also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. Similar fields are requested for these active permits as well.

As an organization committed to transparency in public institutions and accountability in government actions, we believe that access to such public records is crucial. These records will enable us to deliver factual reports that help keep our readers informed about developments in their community.

We have requested these records preferably in electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting. Given our role as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also asked for a fee waiver.

We remain dedicated to providing our readers with thorough coverage of local governmental affairs. As always, we welcome any questions or clarifications regarding our request.
