FOIA Request to City of Girard Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
As a team at South Central Reporter, we have recently sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Girard. Our request is centered around gaining access to records pertaining to both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the present day.
In our quest for transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we are specifically seeking information in the following fields for each permit: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the permit is applicable, and contractor's name.
Our goal is to provide comprehensive news coverage that helps keep the public informed about their local government's activities. Access to these public records will greatly assist us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities.
We believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We look forward to a positive response from the City of Girard as we continue our work in promoting transparency and accountability within our community.
