FOIA Request to Macoupin County Il Clerk Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
At South Central Reporter, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the Macoupin County Il Clerk Election Division.
The request was made for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information sought includes candidates' first, middle and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; party affiliation of the candidate; and contact information such as address, phone number and email address.
As members of the media, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We have requested a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in disseminating information.
