State Senator Jason Plummer of Edwardsville has expressed skepticism following Governor JB Pritzker's recent budget address. In a statement released after the address, Senator Plummer questioned the governor's financial projections and criticized the proposed spending plan.

"I'm not sure how anyone can trust what the Governor is saying right now," stated Senator Plummer. He pointed out that just months ago, Pritzker's budget office had projected a $3.2 billion deficit. "Now, just in time for his budget address, he claims they found another $2 billion. Seriously?" Plummer continued, highlighting discrepancies between past and current budget claims by the governor.

Plummer also commented on broader economic concerns affecting Illinois residents. "Here's what we do know. Money is tight. Families are struggling," he said, adding that even federal authorities are scrutinizing expenditures to save taxpayer funds.

The senator further criticized Governor Pritzker's fiscal strategy, labeling it as excessive. "Governor Pritzker is once again proposing the largest spending plan in state history," he noted. According to Plummer, state spending would have increased by 37% since Pritzker took office if the new plan were implemented.

"Has your salary gone up that much in the same time period? Of course not," remarked Plummer, suggesting that taxpayers bear the burden of what he described as a "reckless spending spree" with no immediate relief expected.
