City of Litchfield Tourism Advisory Committee met Feb. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Members Present: Nancy Hyam, Brooke Steinmann, Jean Elmore, Steve Bryant, Matt Vaugn, Carol Sneed and Mike James as proxy for Lauren Plummer.

City Representatives Present: Tourism Coordinator Stacie Peecher, Lake Superintendent Heather Bell The meeting was called to order.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes from the December 17, 2024, meeting were presented. Steve Bryant made a motion to approve the minutes; seconded by Brooke Steinmann.

Unfinished Business:

New business: Vice Chairperson Hyam called for nominations to fill the Chairperson’s seat. Jean Elmore nominated Nancy Hyam. The nomination was seconded by Brooke Steinmann. All in favor; none opposed. Steve Bryant nominated Brooke Steinmann to fill the Vice Chairperson’s seat. The nomination was seconded by Jean Elmore. All were in favor; none opposed.

Tourism Office Report: Stacie Peecher provided a list of this year’s tourism events. She noted that a fireworks contract has yet to be secured and advertised for bids a second time. A couple of names were given to her as prospective parties who may be interested in receiving the bid specs.

Chamber announcement: Mike James reported that the chamber will host its 77th annual awards banquet on March 14.

Hotel update:

Member announcements: Carol Sneed that the Litchfield Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center is selling embossed paving bricks for $33.

Lake update: Heather Bell said updates to the cabins are complete. She said new wayfinding signs will be here by early May. Other updates in the works are the expanded beach including a beach volleyball court, remodeling work in the beach house and a new automated kayak rental kiosk.
