HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Audiology, in collaboration with Cochlear Americas, will host an educational event on hearing loss and implantable solutions. This free presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Heritage Room at the hospital, located at 9515 Holy Cross Lane, Breese.
The event aims to inform participants about implantable hearing technologies available locally and how these may enhance the quality of life for those with hearing impairments. Doctors and audiologists will be present to address any additional questions.
“Hearing implants are an option to help patients regain access to sound and their lives when their current solutions may be causing frustration or dissatisfaction,” stated Abigail Stutz, AuD, CCC-A, Audiologist at St. Joseph’s. “Our team can provide many treatments and comprehensive care plans for people of all ages with hearing issues right here in our community.”
Most hearing implants, unlike hearing aids, are typically covered by Medicare, many insurance plans, and often Medicaid.
Interested individuals can register online or call 800-790-8427 to RSVP for the event.
The Audiology Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital is equipped to diagnose and treat hearing problems, fit and adjust digital and programmable hearing aids, recommend hearing assistive technology, and provide screening and early detection services. They also offer industrial hearing screenings per OSHA guidelines, communication assistance, and custom-made ear plugs for musicians and swimmers.
Coverage for Medicare beneficiaries is provided for those who meet CMS criteria, and adult Medicaid recipient coverage varies by state-specific guidelines. Patients should contact their insurance provider or hearing implant specialist to confirm coverage eligibility.
