Wesclin Community Unit School District 3 Board of Education met May 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. General Business

A. Roll Call

The Board of Education of Wesclin Community School District # 3, Clinton and St. Clair Counties, Illinois, met in a special session on Monday, the 5th day of May 2025, at the hour of 6:00 p.m., at the Wesclin High School in said district.

At the above-named time and place there were present the following officers and members of the Board:

A quorum of the Board members being present, the current president called the meeting to order and declared the Board to be in session for the transaction of business.

B. Agenda modification

Motion made by Tina Litteken, seconded by _Dustin Biggs_ to approve agenda as presented.

C. Honoring Outgoing Board Members-Connie Elmore and Krystal Schmitt

Mrs.Filyaw honored the outgoing Board Members Connie Elmore and Krystal Schmitt.

A. Certify Election Results

Mrs. Mugele read the certified election results.

Four-Year Term:

• Write-In (Robert Stephen Brown)- 796 votes

• Write-In (Krystal Schmitt)- 663 votes

• Write-In (Timothy Sweet)- 500 votes

• Write-In (Samantha Mohme)- 768 votes

• Write-In (Matthew Albat)- 608 votes

• Write-In (Zach Peters)- 781 votes

Robert Stephen Brown, Zach Peters, and Samantha Mohme were elected for a Four-year term.

Motion by _Jared Poettker, seconded by _Tina Litteken to approve the certified election results as read by Mrs. Mugele.

Vote: Dustin Biggs-aye, Connie Elmore-aye, Tina Litteken-aye, Zach Peters-aye, Jared Poettker-aye, Jeff Stroot-aye.

Motion passes 6-0

B. Adjournment of the 2023-2025 Board of Education

Motion by Connie Elmore, seconded by _Tina Litteken to adjourn the 2023-2025 Board of Education.

Vote: Dustin Biggs-aye, Connie Elmore-aye, Tina Litteken-aye, Zach Peters-aye, Jared Poettker-aye, Jeff Stroot-aye. Motion passes 6-0

C. Call to Order by President Pro Tem and Roll Call

At the above-named time and place there were present the following officers and members of the Board:

D. Oath of Office of Newly Elected Board Members

The newly elected members took the oath of office with Board President Jeff Stroot.

E. Election of Board Officers of the 2025-2027 Board of Education

• President - Jeff Stroot was nominated for President

President pro tem declared; Being that Jeff Stroot is the only candidate nominated for the office president, I hereby declare Jeff Stroot elected by acclamation and direct the secretary to record in minutes.

The president pro tem will then relinquish duties and the newly elected president will take nominations for the remaining positions.

• Vice President- Jared Poettker was nominated for Vice President

President pro tem declared; Being that Jared Poettker is the only candidate nominated for the office of Vice President, I hereby declare Jared Poettker elected by acclamation and direct the secretary to record in minutes.

• Secretary- Dustin Biggs was nominated for Secretary

President pro tem declared; Being that Dustin Biggs is the only candidate nominated for the office of Secretary, I hereby declare Dustin Biggs elected by acclamation and direct the secretary to record in minutes.

• Treasurer- Tina Litteken was nominated for Treasurer

President pro tem declared; Being that Tina Litteken is the only candidate nominated for the office of Treasurer, I hereby declare Tina Litteken elected by acclamation and direct the secretary to record in minutes.

• Recording Secretary

Motion by Dustin Biggs, seconded by _Zach Peters to approve Ryann Mugele as the recording secretary for the 2025-2027 Board of Education.

Vote: Dustin Biggs-aye, Samantha Mohme-aye, Tina Litteken-aye, Zach Peters-aye, Jared Poettker-aye, Jeff Stroot-aye, Stephen Brown-aye. Motion passes 7-0

F. Setting Minutes Dates

Currently, the board meetings are held the third Monday of the month, except when a holiday falls on the third Monday. When this happens, the meetings are held on the following Tuesday.

Motion by _Zach Peters, seconded by _Jared Poettker to hold the Board of Education meetings on the third Monday of the month.

Vote: Dustin Biggs-aye, Samantha Mohme-aye, Tina Litteken-aye, Zach Peters-aye, Jared Poettker-aye, Jeff Stroot-aye, Stephen Brown-aye. Motion passes 7-0

G. Adoption of Existing Board Polices

Motion by Jared Poettker_, seconded by Zach Peters_ to approve the current Board Policies.

H. Committee

A discussion was held regarding the assignment of board committees. The president of the Board of Education is responsible for assigning interested members to committees, and will then inform the board.

IV. Adjournment:

It was moved by _Zach Peters, seconded by _Dustin Biggs_ that the meeting be adjourned. Meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
