Report: Centralia spent $10,498 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Centralia School District 135 is up 2 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $10,270 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,498 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 1314 to 1379.

Centralia's spending in 2016-17 was 19 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
