Centralia FD responds to 89 fires in 2017

Centralia Fire Department responded to 207 calls in 2017 - 17.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Centralia included 89 fires - 36 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 44 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $315,340 in fire loss - or about $3,543 per fire.

The department also received 116 false calls, including four malicious calls and 112 other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Centralia Fire Department had an annual budget of $272,555 in 2017.
