How much has Bond County CUSD 2 overspent over the past 10 years?

Bond County Community Unit School District No. 2 accumulated $18.56 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Bond County CUSD 2 reported 16.5 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 4.5 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 92.3 percent from 2008 to 2017.
