How much has Nokomis CUSD 22 overspent over the past 10 years?

Nokomis Community Unit School District 22 accumulated $4.57 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Nokomis CUSD 22 reported 2.3 percent less revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 24.1 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 1,817 percent from 2008 to 2017.
