Report: Which South Central Illinois communities saw the most structure fires in 2017?

Smithboro Fire Protection District, Medora Volunteer Fire Department and Hoyleton Fire Protection District reported responding to the most structure fire incidents per capita in South Central Illinois in 2017, according to the latest state report.

The annual summary of state fire incidents, published by the Illinois State Fire Marshal, records the number and type of fire-related incidents each fire protection district responded to in the calendar year. Fires are categorized as structure fires, vehicle fires or other fires.
