With an unopposed win in last March’s primary, Republican Seth McMillan is trying to leverage his self-proclaimed outsider status for a 48th District state Senate victory in November.
The candidate debuted a minute-long ad on Facebook last month. “Seth McMillan for state Senate — Outsider,” shows McMillan discussing issues with small groups of voters over meals at local eateries.
“They’re looking for people that want to serve (for) the right reasons,” McMillan said in a voice-over. “Public service needs to be about … representing your constituents and not about climbing the ladder to your next political office.”

The former Christian County Republican Central Committee chair and landscape business owner has championed veterans causes. He also recently thanked the Macoupin Military Support Group for coordinating the 2018 Military Support Caravan via Facebook.
“Thank you to our veterans, active military personnel and our young men and women who are joining, we are eternally grateful,” McMillan said. “Land of the Free because of the Brave.”
McMillan is running against state Sen. Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) in the Nov. 6 general election.
The 48th Senate District includes Christian, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery and Sangamon counties.
