City of Salem issued the following announcement on Aug. 28.
The City of Salem Department of Public Works has announced they will begin flushing fire hydrants on the north end of town on Monday, September 10, 2018 and will continue south until all hydrants have been exercised. The entire process is expected to take approximately two weeks. Water may be discolored for a few days but will remain safe to drink. Customers are reminded not to wash white or light colored clothing while water is discolored.
