Report: Salem spent $8,123 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Salem School District 111 is up 9.8 percent from five years ago, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Marion County school district spent $7,396 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,123 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1078 to 1011.

Salem's spending in 2017-18 was 39.1 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
