Analysis: Central A&M administrators rank 737th in state for average pay

Administrators in Central A&M Community Unit School District 21 earn an average of $82,247 per year, ranking 737th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a South Central Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 8.5% lower than in 2014 and 4.8% lower than in 2009. District administrators make 23.3% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Shelby County school district enrolled 714 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 143 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
