HSHS ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL BREESE: HSHS Home Care and Hospice “Crams the Car” with Canned Goods for Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry

HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Breese issued the following announcement on March 29.

In recognition of February being National Canned Food Month, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois recently teamed up with several local organizations to “Cram the Car” with non-perishable food items for the Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry out of Carlyle Illinois. The food drive effort by these organizations out of the Breese, Carlyle, and Aviston areas collected 220 pounds for Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry. The food drive was also carried out through the other communities HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois services, and in total, 3,305 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected across all of Southern Illinois for local area ministries.

“Thanks to the generous contributions of these community organizations and members, this ‘Cram the Car’ food drive was a success,” said Katy Oakley, HSHS Home Care and Hospice Southern Illinois outreach representative. “The food we were able to collect was much appreciated by Matthew 25 Ecumenical Food Pantry, and will be used to help families and individuals in the area.”
