Former state university employee Davenport paid in $43K to pension fund, could collect $904K in retirement

Former state university employee Jerri Davenport, who retired in January 2018, saved $43,457 toward a pension over 20 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Davenport would collect as much as $904,324, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Central Reporter.

The projection assumes Davenport received $19,008 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Davenport will have already received $58,751 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
