Brownstown Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education met May 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting was called to order by President Donald Bloemker at 7:00 P.M.

The following members were present: Andy Elam, Kent Kistler, John Schaub, Chad Towler and Laura Willms. Also present were: Superintendent Mike Shackelford and Principals Jeff Wooters and Sherry Harmon. Guest present was: Suzanne Stinebring. Randy Mason was absent.

Approve Consent Agenda

Motion by Elam, seconded by Kistler that the consent agenda be approved as follows:

That the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education held on Monday, April 15, 2019 be approved as presented.

Further, that the Treasurers' Report be approved as presented.

Further, that the list of bills be approved as presented.

Further, to authorize the Superintendent to advertise for bids on bread and milk for the 2019-2020 school year.

Further, to authorize the Superintendent to prepare a Tentative Budget for the 2019-2020 school year.

Further, to approve renewal application for Child Nutrition, Illinois Free Lunch and Breakfast, and Food Distribution programs.

Further, to authorize the administration to complete the on-line grant application for the following: Federal Grants - Title I, Improving Academic Achievement; Title II – Teacher Quality; Title IV - Flexible Spending; IDEA Part B

Further, to approve Mid-State Policy and Procedures for Behavioral Interventions for Mid-State Special Education Eligible Students.

Further, to approve Registration/Textbook/Lab Fees for the 2018-2019 school year as follows: Elementary(K-6)-$95.00; Junior High(7-8)-$120.00; High School(9-12)-$120.00; Driver Education-$50.00. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Kistler, seconded by Schaub to adjourn to closed session at 7:25 P.M. for collective negotiating matters between the District and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees and to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against

an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. This closed session is authorized under the Open Meeting Act, House Bill 411, Public Act 82-78, which allows the Board to consider such information. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Towler, seconded by Bloemker to come out of closed session at 8:15 P.M. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Bloemker, seconded by Kistler that the minutes of the closed session be approved. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Kistler, seconded by Towler to employ Danyle Boaz as High School English Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Schaub, seconded by Towler to employ Danielle Whitehead as Jr High Special Education Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Whitehea Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Schaub, seconded by Kistler to employ Rhonda Gehle as Jr-Sr High School Evening Custodian for the 2019-2020 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Gehle Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Bloemker, seconded by Towler to ratify the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Brownstown Education Association beginning August 15, 2018 through August 15, 2021. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Bloemker, seconded by Towler to approve Mike Sasse and Michele Seabaugh as Volunteer Jr High Girls Basketball Coaches for the summer of 2019 and the 2019-2020 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Kistler, seconded by Bloemker to approve Holly Koester as a Volunteer Assistant High School Girls Basketball Coach for the 2019-2020 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Schaub, seconded by Elam to employ Austin Foht as summer janitorial help at the rate of $8.25 per hour for the summer of 2019. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Kistler, seconded by Towler to employ Wyatt Chandler as summer janitorial help at the rate of $8.25 per hour for the summer of 2019. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Elam, seconded by Towler to accept the resignation of Kim Splechter as an Elementary Teacher effective the end of the 2018-2019 school year. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

Motion by Elam, seconded by Towler that a Public Hearing on the FY19 amended budget will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 7:05 PM at the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education to be held in the Brownstown High School Library. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.

The Board discussed the 2018-2019 amended budget and approved for it to be placed on display in the District Office for 30 days prior to adoption.

Motion by Schaub, seconded by Kistler to adjourn at 8:30 P.M. Bloemker, Elam, Kistler, Schaub, Towler, Willms, Yes.
